Sometimes people think that being a mindful parent means you won’t get upset or angry. But mindfulness is not about denying or ignoring negative emotions. It is about paying attention to what you’re feeling without clinging to it.
You are not your emotion and you don’t have to act on the emotion.
If we choose to be more mindful by pausing before responding, we can teach kids that they too can pause and choose to respond instead of react.
