Rainbow Colours – Violet

Guiding children in Mindfulness

Today in our Mindful Minis class we focused on the first colour of the rainbow, violet. Violet usually represents the head (in terms of parts of the body) and is therefore associated with wisdom, self-respect and importance. Violet or purple is often the colour associated with royalty!

One of the breathing exercises we did today was to breathe violet light into all parts of the body – from the head, all the way down to the toes. I then asked the children to imagine themselves surrounded by the violet light. I encouraged the children to connect with feelings of self-worth and importance. I reminded the children that, if at anytime, they are feeling bad about something they are not good at or feeling a bit low about themselves, that they can imagine breathing in the violet light and letting it fill their entire bodies. This can help to boost a child’s self-confidence and feelings of self-worth.

As mentioned in a previous post, I absolutely love rainbows! They signify so much hope after the storm. So I was delighted to see the wonderful artwork produced by the children involving rainbows, hope and happy faces.
